These designs draw on the aesthetics of pleat folded paper surfaces. The trays were a smaller scale way of experiment with this idea, but are a beautiful product in their own right.

The main tray uses ripple sycamore for its side walls, with a book-matched spalted beech base. The details are from a beech prototype.
